Bradford accountants unwind at local Gin Festival event

3 July, 2017

Members of staff from leading Bradford accountancy firm Watson Buckle recently unwound for an evening of gin tasting and networking.

Seven members of the Watson Buckle team visited The Hop Saltaire Bar & Kitchen in Saltaire on Thursday 29 June 2017. Staff and guests were greeted with a welcome cocktail made using Gin Festival’s very own Tinker Gin.

Marie Harris, co-founder of Gin Festival, told an enlightening story of how Gin Festival came in to existence following the hard work and dedication of her and her husband.

The team later enjoyed an eye-opening presentation on the origins of the juniper-flavoured spirit and the different ways in which it is made, presented by Gin Festival’s Dan Walsh.

The event was attended by Susan Sedgwick, Watson Buckle’s Managing Director, alongside Corporate Services Manager Selina Bocskei, Corporate Tax Manager Rebecca Hurford, Business Services Managers Sandra Robinson and Danielle Vollentine and Audit Seniors Sarah Wilman and Sam Stirzaker.

All those who attended had the opportunity to taste four different types of gin from across the UK – including Yorkshire’s own Tinker Gin by Gin Festival, Adnams Copper House Dry from Suffolk, JJ Whitley Elderflower from Liverpool and Caspyn Midsummer Dry from as far away as Cornwall.

Guests were also encouraged to mix their own drinks according to their individual tastes.

The speech, presentation and tasting session were followed by networking and pizza.

Susan Sedgwick, Managing Director at Watson Buckle, said: “It was a great pleasure to unwind with members of the Watson Buckle team and to meet and network with new and friendly people over a glass or two of gin.

“Marie’s’ story is inspiring and I certainly learned a thing or two about the history of gin from Dan’s illuminating presentation.”
