Watson Buckle has been thanked by Steeton AFC for their support during their last successful season.

Finishing seventh in the North West Counties Division One North has left the team on a high after they secured a 53-point total – the highest in the club’s history at this level.

The club had a record-breaking season, which saw the team captain, Andy Briggs finish as the leading goal scorer in the league – with an incredible 35 goals!

The success of the team in the last year has helped the club attract larger and larger home crowds, with away support also doubling in the last nine months.

Watson Buckle was a proud sponsor of the club, with staff attending several matches to see the team play and sponsoring a player for the season.

Located just up the road from Watson Buckle’s own offices in Bingley, Steeton AFC also helped the firm out with kits for a Charity football tournament in aid of the charity ‘The Cellar Trust’.

Roy Mason, Steeton AFC Manager, said: “We could not have done what we have done without sponsors either. Having local business involvement with the club is massively important as we simply could not function without your help and progress in the manner that we have over the past few seasons.”

Reflecting on the success of the team, Watson Buckle’s Managing Partner, Mark Wilcock, said: “It has been exciting to follow the incredible progress of the ‘The Chevrons’ as they have worked their way up this competitive league.

“We are delighted to have played a small part in their ongoing success and big plans for the future as a sponsor of this incredible local team.”
